After a summary of what is already known about the bâbtum-neighborhoods of Old Babylonian cities, we will show their role in times of economic crisis. We will then see how many neighborhoods a city could include and how they were designated. We will finally study the title and the status of the individuals described as “head of the ward” (UGULA DAG.GI₄.A).
